February 2022 Temporary Impact Attenuators (TIAs)
As construction continues on the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, drivers will see temporary impact attenuators (TIAs).
TIAs minimize the impact of a vehicle striking the temporary concrete barrier.
TIAs are connected to the leading end of the first piece of temporary concrete barrier as traffic approaches.
TIAs work to bring a vehicle safely to a stop by absorbing the vehicle’s momentum.
TIAs are also called crash cushions.
